The St. Thomas/St. John Chapter of the Alumni Association of the University of the Virgin Islands has new interim officers who will serve until an official election is held and officers are installed. Jacqueline A. Sprauve, out-going chapter and association president, made the interim appointments as her last official duty as she steps down from those positions. “The appointments are intended to provide a period of new growth for the chapter,” Sprauve said. She is the current Alumni Association representative on the UVI Board of Trustees.
Alumni appointed to serve are:
- Interim President – Michelle Johnson, 2000 B.A. in Business Administration and 2007 M.Ed. in Counseling & Guidance. Johnson is employed at the Virgin Islands Port Authority and part-time at the University Bound Program as a counselor.
- Interim Vice President – Rick S. Grant, 2009 B.A. in Communication and 2012 M.P.A. Grant is currently the executive assistant to the deputy commissioner for Human Resources, Labor Relationship and Payroll.
- Interim Secretary – Delaun Mercer, 1997 B.A.in Business Administration, is employed at the Government Employees' Retirement System (GERS), in the Accounting & Finance Department.
- Interim Treasurer – LeRue Browne, 2009 B.A. in Business Administration, is supply distribution manager at the Schneider Regional Medical Center.
Technical assistance will be provided to the interim officers by consultant Deanna Rogers and Donnie Dorsett. Rogers, 1985 A.A. in Accounting and 1987 B.A. in Business Administration, works as a consultant. Dorsett, 2000 B.A. in Business Administration, is a former chapter and association president and alumni trustee, and class president.
