Miss UVI to Compete in Miss National Black College Queens Competition in Atlanta
Murchtricia Charles – Miss UVI 2013-2014 – will participate in the 2013 National Black College Alumni (NBCA) Hall of Fame Competition of Black College Queens on Sept. 25-29, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Atlanta. The competition will feature women who have been recognized by their respective colleges or universities with the coveted title of “College Queen.” The winner will add the title of Miss NBCA Hall of Fame to their local honor. In addition, the competition provides an opportunity for young women attending our nations Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to better prepare for the future.
The program emphasizes excellence, achievement and personal growth, while striving to make the competition a fun experience. Charles will be accompanied by Student Affairs representative Leon Lafond and a UVI chaperone as she vies for the title of Miss 2013 NBCA Hall of Fame. An invitation to attend has been extended to UVI alumni residing in the Atlanta area. Organizers are urging them to come out and show support for Miss UVI.
