Coastweeks Activities to Highlight Marine Resources on St. Croix, St. Thomas
The Virgin Islands Marine Advisory Service (VIMAS) is again coordinating Coastweeks events on St. Croix and St. Thomas for the fall. Coastweeks is a period each year dedicated to increasing the community’s awareness and understanding of the importance of the territory’s beaches and marine resources. This year Coastweeks will be celebrated from Sept. 21 through Oct. 31. VIMAS will assist local groups, clubs and schools to organize and conduct shoreline and underwater cleanups. VIMAS is also partnering with the VI Waste Management Authority (WMA), which will help to transport and dispose of the trash collected.
