Bucs Soccer Squad Posts a Draw in Action Against Metropolitan University
UVI’s Buccaneers soccer team garnered a tie in action Friday, Sept. 13, against Metropolitan University. Interim Athletic Director Curtis Gilpin said the recent addition of Gejae Jeffers and Kimani George (from St. Croix), bolstered the team’s defense, and helped the Bucs battled Metropolitan to a 0-0 tie, in 90 minutes of action. In earlier play on Sept. 11, the team lost a match fought closely early on to UPR-Cayey, 3-0. The squad’s first matchup of the season, on Sept 7, against Inter American University, was postponed due to inclement weather. The Bucs team record is now 0 wins, 1 loss and one tie.
On Friday, Sept. 20, UVI faces UPR Carolina at Don Bosco Field, in San Juan, in a 3 p.m. game. On Sunday, Sept. 22, the Bucs travel to Bayamon Soccer Complex to take on Politechnica University at 10a.m.
