The U.S. Department of Education recently issued its final rule in regards to Title IX regulations that became effective Aug. 14, 2020. Under the auspices of the federal government, Title IX governs matters related to sexual violence, sexual harassment, and other forms of sexual misconduct or discrimination that may occur at educational institutions, including UVI.
President David Hall will host two virtual forums to share more about UVI’s adoption of these new Title IX regulations and the corresponding revisions to the University’s policies. Joining President Hall will be Attorney Marie Thomas-Griffith from Hall & Griffith P.C., UVI legal counsel.
Please find below a link to the updated UVI Sexual Harassment Policy for ease of reference. The virtual forums will also provide an opportunity to address any questions. If there are specific questions you would like to send in advance of the forums, please feel free to do so by emailing udyer@uvi.edu.
Please note that while there are two forums targeted for different audiences, you can join either session as your schedule permits since the message will be the same. For those who are unable to participate, recordings of the sessions will be made available via MyCampus.
