UVI To Host First Virtual Summer Research Symposium

The College of Science and Mathematics at the University of the Virgin Islands invites the community to the 18th Annual Summer Research Symposium. For the first time, the event will be hosted virtually on Zoom and will occur on Friday, July 31, 2020 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. This event will showcase research presentations by student participants of the UVI Summer Undergraduate Research Program. 

The symposium will feature more than 40 current undergraduate students as they display the results of their summer research projects that were conducted under the mentorship of UVI faculty. The projects involve a variety of topics in scientific disciplines including: 

  • Marine and Environmental Science 
  • Community Health 
  • STEM Education 
  • COVID-19 Research 
  • Physics & Astronomy 
  • And more

This event is organized by the Emerging Caribbean Scientists (ECS) Program with funding provided by federal grants from the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, as well as donations to the university.
