Edmund Penn Scholarship Available to High School Students; Apply by April 19

High school seniors are invited to apply for the Edmund Penn Scholarship which is available to high school students. The deadline for the scholarship is April 19, 2019.

The scholarship covers tuition, fees, books, and supplies.

This reoccurring scholarship will be awarded for a maximum of five years to a student attending the University of the Virgin Islands.

To apply submit the following to UVI’s Office of Institutional Advancement:

• UVI acceptance letter

• High school transcript

• SAT Scores

• 1,000-word essay explaining “the benefits of preserving natural coastal regions throughout the Virgin Islands”

• Provide your name and contact information on a separate cover page

Eligibility:

The scholarship recipient must be an incoming freshman who graduated from a high school in either St. Croix or St. John/St. Thomas District. The applicant must plan to major in Marine Biology, Biology, Chemistry, or minor in Environmental Science at the University of the Virgin Islands.

To be considered, applicants must have a minimum SAT Score of 490 Math/500 English. The recipient must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA overall to retain the scholarship.

The scholarship recipient must provide the Magens Bay Authority Board with an academic progress report at the conclusion of each academic year the scholarship is awarded.
