The community is invited to celebrate Charter Day at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20. Gov. Albert Bryan, Jr.—the first Governor of the Virgin Islands to be a graduate of the University of the Virgin Islands – will be the keynote speaker. He will address the University from the Great Hall on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. Gov. Bryan’s remarks will be video conferenced to the first-floor conference room of the Administration and Conference Center Building on the St. Thomas Campus.
The event will begin with UVI’s “Brothers With A Cause” student organization hosting a 100 Man March that will end at the Great Hall. An engaging ceremony to commemorate the University’s 57 years of excellence will include a special reflection of the first College of the Virgin Islands President, Dr. Lawrence Wanlass, who passed in December 2018. Former Board of Trustees’ members, Jennifer Nugent-Hill and Edward E. Thomas, who the Board recently recognized with the distinction of Trustee Emeritus status at the recent Board meeting, will also be honored.
After the ceremony, please stick around and enjoy light refreshments. For additional information contact the President’s Office at (340) 693-1000.
