The University of the Virgin Islands Center for the Study of Spirituality and Professionalism, Institutional Advancement, and Student Affairs will be hosting a Wellness and Recovery Festival for the UVI Community. This festival is scheduled from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 on the St. Thomas Campus. The purpose of this event is to provide information on how to relieve stress and cope with the aftermath of trauma, develop self-healing techniques, and experience various art forms that promote wellness. Participants will have an opportunity to engage in cooperative activities, meaningful dialogue and experience techniques that promote healing, stress reduction and relaxation.
The UVI community (Faculty, students and staff) are encouraged to attend the festivals and take advantage of the sessions offered.
Some sessions include:
- Art Therapy Brick Project & Tree Planting with Dahlia Stridiron-Felix
- Sound Therapy for Relaxation with Rev. Toni Gillman
- Healing Arts of Tai Chi, Chi Gong with Raymond “Suliman” Francis
- Movement Therapy through the Martial Arts with Roy Faulkner
- Sunset Yoga with Maricel Flores Diaz
