The Emerging Caribbean Scientists (ECS) Program at the University of the Virgin Islands invites the community to attend the 15th Annual Summer Student Research Symposium. It will take place in the first-floor conference room of the Administration Conference Center on the St. Thomas Campus from 10 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Friday, July 28th, 2017.
The Symposium will feature more than 30 current UVI student researchers. They will showcase the research that was conducted while participating in the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) and the Sophomore Summer Research Institute (SSRI), under the mentorship of UVI faculty. The research projects involve a variety of subjects including astrophysics, astronomy, marine biology, chemistry, and computer science, just to name a few.
Civic organizations, summer youth camps, and the general public is highly encouraged to attend and to learn more about research taking place at UVI. This event is organized by the ECS Program in collaboration with the College of Science and Mathematics. Funding is provided by federal grants from the National Science Foundation and private donors.
