The NABCEP Solar Training program will be held 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, May 1, and will run through Friday, May 5, at the UVICELL Center on St. Thomas. The UVICELL Center and Archibald Energy Group (AEG) LLC, an energy-consulting firm will be offering a 40-hour solar training program. The entry-level program is ideal for individuals who are interested in learning more about the industry and will provide a better understanding of renewable energy technologies and their long-term sustainability.
In an effort to increase awareness of renewable energy and advance the territory’s agenda of promoting and improving energy efficiency, the UVICELL Center is collaborating with a local company to prepare the workforce for jobs in this emerging sector.
The training is vital for the territory to build and maintain the infrastructure to support clean energy. Through hands-on, practical training, students enrolled in the course will learn how to safely install, operate, maintain and troubleshoot renewable energy systems. At the end of the course, participants will take the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) entry-level exam; the most recognized and esteemed certification for the solar industry.
