Gillian Marcelle, executive director of the UVI RTPark, the specialized economic development agency which aims to attract knowledge and technology-based companies to the US Virgin Islands, will be speaking at the United Nations Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Forum, which is a component of the technology facilitation mechanism launched in the UN Summit in New York last September.
The forum is mandated to discuss science, technology and innovation cooperation around thematic areas for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). The forum aims to helps stimulate conversation and action within the international community on how technology can best serve development objectives.
The forum takes place at United Nations Headquarters in New York City on June 6-7, 2016. Speakers invited to the forum will be leading scientists, experts in technology and innovators, who can enrich the discussions and highlight concrete ways in which technology and innovation can help to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
Gillian Marcelle, a Trinidad and Tobago national, will speak on an enabling environment for STI and the SDGs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday June 6, 2016 in Panel Session number two.
