Teachers Invited to Apply for Marine Debris Teacher Training Workshop on Oct. 4

St. Thomas and St. Croix Teachers are invited to join us for a marine debris workshop 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 4, in room 1421A and 1B in the UVI Administration and Conference Center on the St. Thomas Campus.

Marine debris is a global preventable problem felt locally in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Learn about new USVI-focused materials and resources available to teachers on St. Thomas and St. Croix. Participants will be presented new marine debris learning materials and hands-on materials and resources. Find out how to apply for access to more than $20,000 in funding for community-based projects involving students during the 2016-2017 school year.

A one hundred dollar stipend will be provided for workshop participants.  Also, airfare will be paid for St. Croix participants. Lunch is provided.  More than $20,000 is available for classroom and community-based projects that reduce land-based sources of marine debris on St. Thomas and St. Croix schools.

Apply early. Spaces are limited. The deadline to apply is Sept. 6, or until spaces are filled.  For more information contact kristin.wilson@uvi.edu
