Marvin L. Pickering, EA, PHR, director designee of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Internal Revenue, and Dr. Stephen Reames, dean of the School of Business of the University of the Virgin Islands, announced the continued partnership that allows accounting students of the University of the Virgin Islands to provide a great community service to taxpayers. Through the Volunteer Taxpayer Assistance Program, the bureau’s audit staff and the UVI students will help taxpayers with the filing of their 2014 income tax returns. This is a free service offered to taxpayers who are filing simple tax returns with the bureau.
The Volunteer Taxpayer Assistance Program will begin on all three islands on Saturday, February 21st and will run every Saturday until April 11th, with the exception of Saturday, April 4th. Assistance will be provided on a first-come first-served basis, and the interns will be completing forms 1040EZ and 1040A only. A news release is available from the Media section of the UVI website - http://www.uvi.edu – and from this direct link.
