The University of the Virgin Islands College of Science and Mathematics and the Etelman Observatory will be hosting its next public observing session using the Virgin Islands Robotic Telescope from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6. The public will be treated to views of the great Globular Cluster in Hercules; the Orion Star Forming Nebula; Jupiter and a waning gibbous Moon. The evening will also feature a video presentation and lecture discussing how to discern good science from fanciful fiction in a world of seemingly endless information and misinformation.
"We are pleased to invite the St. Thomas public to join us and enjoy the night sky, views of our galaxy, and a discussion of interesting and exciting topics in the world of astrophysics and space science," said Etelman Observatory Director Dr. David Morris.
This event is presented free of charge to the St. Thomas community. Space is limited. Shuttle service will be provided from the Sibilly School parking lot (near Sibs).
