Music Department to Host ‘Stories and Conversations’ Panel Discussion on World Conflict on Feb. 27

The UVI Music Department, in conjunction with the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, invites the public to “Stories and Conversations,” a panel discussion on world conflict and peace. Panelists will discuss spatial boundaries of peace through the moral imagination: conflict, conflict resolution, and the potential for peace. “Stories and Conversations,” will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, in the first-floor conference room of the Administration and Conference Center.

 The panelist include:

  • Dr. Lejla  Mušić, an assistant professor at the University of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina, who holds degrees in the social sciences and gender studies.
  • Dr. Janet Gerson, an international peace research scholar, who is currently education director at the International Institute on Peace Education.
  • Danny Tom, a 9/11 survivor.

The panelists will share stories and invite conversation related to a seemingly world-wide preoccupation with conflict and war, and provide insight into current scholarships that attempt to provoke interest in and provide solutions toward conflict resolution, solutions that support ideals related to the potential for peace.

This is an Ann Elizabeth Richardson Distinguished Professor of Music activity. For information please contact Dr. Lorna Young-Wright at lyoung@uvi.edu.
