UVI Counseling Services to Feature Workshop Series on Sheen Campus
The UVI Counseling Services Office on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix Campus is presenting a series of workshops on counseling topics. This series of workshops are intended to provide information and give support to students. The workshops include:
Depression Awareness Workshop
UVI students are invited to a Depression Awareness Workshop from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, in Evans Center room 408. This workshop will give students a chance to learn about depression, including how to recognize it and also how to address it in themselves and others in their life. Depression is quite prevalent, especially in high stress situations such as college life. The end of the semester is closing in and many students are starting to react to the numerous deadlines and end of semester exams and projects. This brief workshop on depression will give students needed information and perhaps, some strategies for themselves and others they care about suffering from depression.
Study Away & NSE Interest Session
Come join us to find out UVI’s options for study away and National Student Exchange from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 18, in Evans Center, room 505, on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. Patricia Towal, director of Counseling and Career Services on the Sheen Campus, invites students to look at the NSE website, discuss advantages, parameters and qualifications. “Your student Life Begins at the End of Your Comfort Zone,” said Towal.
Healthy Relationships Workshop
Students are encouraged to attend a Healthy Relationships workshop from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, in Evans Center room 408. This workshop will be presented by the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Council (DVSAC), University partners. This presentation will focus on how to achieve a healthy relationship which in turn will enable couples to support and care for one another. The alternative is engaging in destructive behaviors leading to a negative relationship, which can turn into domestic violence or sexual misconduct situations. Finding balance in a relationship will keep it on the plus side in one’s life.
