The University of the Virgin Islands announces the winners of the 26th Annual Afternoon on the Green, held on Sunday, March 15. Afternoon on the Green Co-Chairs Winston Smith and Jennifer Toussaint thanks the community for coming out to the support UVI's annual “friendraiser” and also thanks the volunteers for their assistance. “I would like to thank all the participants, especially the cooks, whose tireless efforts made this a signature event this year,” said Smith.
Lena Steele Williams received first prize in the “Overall People’s Choice” award category. Steele Williams received the most paper ballot and text votes for her cheesecake entry – “Lena’s Love That Cheesecake.” She won four round-trip tickets to Puerto Rico. Ingrid Simon’s fish chowder won second prize in the “Overall People’s Choice” award category. She will receive dinner for four from Passion Fruit Chefs. Edna Roebuck was awarded third-prize for her entry – “Edna’s Carrot Cake.” Roebuck won two round-trip tickets to St. Croix.
