Final Round of the 13D Student Entrepreneurship Competition Set for April 24

The final round of the annual 13D Student Entrepreneurship Competition will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 24, in the Administration and Conference Center’s first-floor conference room on the St. Thomas Campus. The competition will be video conferenced the North West Wing of the Great Hall on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. Six UVI students will present their business ideas with a panel of judges for a chance to win $60,000 in start-up funds. The UVI community is invited to attend. “This is a great experience for business students to see proposals for business start-ups and get a feel for the high-tension of the competition that exists in the free market,” said Dr. Glenn Metts, UVI 13D coordinator.

The student entrepreneurship competition is made possible by a $5 million gift to UVI from investment strategist and entrepreneur Kiril Sokoloff, the founder of 13D Research on St. Thomas. The gift supports 13D Student Entrepreneurship Competitions, a Distinguished Professor of Entrepreneurship Endowed Chair and the Entrepreneurial Speaker Series at UVI.  For more information contact Dr. Metts at (340) 693-1303.
