UVI’s St. Thomas Campus will host the start of a unique, 5K adventure run and walk dubbed “VI ‘Til I DYE 2!” It will begin at 10 a.m. time on Saturday, Nov. 22. The walk/run is being organized by Active Island Tours and Events. A portion of the proceeds from the day will go to support UVI’s University Bound program, a college preparatory program for high school students.
Organizers expect hundreds of runners and walkers to participate in the un-timed event. They encourage UVI students to join in the fun. The University Bound program is also encouraging current UVI students who are alumni of the program to join in the fun. Participants, who will be dressed in white, will be blasted with environmentally friendly, non-toxic colored powders as they pass each kilometer mark along the route.
The expectation is that participants will resemble a rainbow colored tsunami as they cross the finish line on Lindbergh Bay Beach. A beach party follows. Early registration is $45. Late registration, from Nov. 11 to 22, will be $50. Registration is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Nov. 22. Additional details are available from http://activeislandvi.com/vi_til_i_dye.html.
