A book launch party for Volume 27 of “The Caribbean Writer” is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014. It will take place in the Great Hall on UVI’s Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. The theme of Volume 27 is “Highlighting Caribbean Music and Art.” The event will give readers a chance to meet local contributors, who will read from their works. Along with purchasing autographed copies of Volume 27, the evening will include a presentation by the Caribbean Dance Company which will interpret poetry through dance.
Volume 27 includes poetry, personal essays, short stories, one-act plays and book reviews. The cover art, entitled "Quelbe Dancers," is by Cuban-born Madeliene Meehan, a resident of St. Thomas. Music and refreshments will be available. All members of the UVI Community – students, alumni, faculty and staff – and the general public are encouraged to attend.
