A Leadership Forum as part of Women’s History Month with the topic “Women in Abusive Relationships” will be conducted by UVI’s Office of Student Affairs on the St. Thomas Campus from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 27. It will be held in the first-floor conference room of UVI’s Administration and Conference Center.
The conference is designed to empower young female students and young women of the community, helping them to be courageous. It will include presentations of the alternatives available to staying in an abusive relationship. A panel of women and men will share their knowledge and expertise on the topic. Panelists will include Vivian St. Juste, director of the Women’s Resource Center, Walter Browne, a male advocate for domestic violence prevention, Sergeant Celeste Potter of the Virgin Islands Police Department and Dr. Lori Thompson of Insight Psychological Services.
