Employers, managers and supervisors in the Virgin Islands are invited to a disability awareness training session titled “Tapping Into Talent.” The training will take place from 9 a.m. to noon, on Oct. 16, at the VI Small Business Development Center (VISBDC), at Nisky Center on St. Thomas. It will be presented by the Disability Rights Center of the Virgin Islands, an affiliate of Northeast ADA Center at Cornell University, in partnership with the Virgin Islands University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities and the VISBDC.
The session will cover how to develop effective and legally compliant practices for workers with disabilities. It will be presented by Archie Jennings, Esq., managing attorney of the Disability Rights Center of the Virgin Islands, and Julien Henley, former regional manager for Passman Galleries, to address the issue from the perspective of a professional with a disability.
