Members of the media are invited to cover new student move-in day and keynote speaker presentations scheduled as part of UVI’s 2014 Spring Semester Orientation Week activities.
Move-in day is Sunday, Jan. 5 on both campuses. Move-in hours are scheduled from noon to 9 p.m. on the St. Thomas Campus, and from noon to 4 p.m. on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix.
Orientation keynote addresses are scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 7, on both campuses. Dr. Marilyn Braithwaite-Hall will speak on St. Croix, while UVI alumna Kishma N. Allen will address students on St. Thomas.
Dr. Braithwaite-Hall, who is married to UVI President Dr. David Hall, has served as assistant director of the African-American Center at Tufts University, assistant dean for student affairs at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and manager of the Federal Women’s Programs for the New England Region of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Allen, who graduated magna cum laude from UVI in 2009 with a degree in accounting, is an author and motivational speaker. Her book “It's Your Vision, Can YOU Make it Happen?" has been used in workshops and mentoring programs across the United States.
