A seminar on staple food crops in Micronesia will be presented on UVI’s Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix from 2 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16. The speaker will be Dr. Virendra M. Verma, a researcher who serves as project director at the Plant Food Propagation Research Center in Micronesia, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Dr. Verma has 20 years of research experience in agriculture, horticulture, plant tissue culture and biotechnology. The session – titled “Micronesia’s Staple Food Crops: Tissue Culture to Harvest” – is open to the University community as well as the general public. It will take place in Room 133 of the Research and Extension Center on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix.
