Seven students on six teams are advancing to the final round of UVI’s 13D Entrepreneurship Competition. Now in its third year, the day-long final round session will be held in the first-floor conference room of UVI’s Administration and Conference Center on St. Thomas, beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23 (Note this is a date change). It is free and open to the public. The selected students will be vying for a total of $60,000 in prize money to help seed their business startup ideas.
Dr. Glenn Metts, director of Entrepreneurship Education at UVI, announced the following advancing students and their team affiliations: Allison De Gazon - Cruzan Organix Farm, Kimberlee Smith - Nannies to the Rescue, Patsy Breunlin - Phantasea Trop Org Garden, Christopher Williams - Project A, Nicholas Goldman - Jumbie Juice, and Roda Osman and Brandon Bougouneau - WUVI Team.
Winners of this year’s second 13D competition for high school students in the territory will be announced during the final round of the UVI competition, according to Dr. Metts. The 13D Competitions were made possible, in part, by a $5 million gift to UVI from investment strategist and entrepreneur Kiril Sokoloff, the founder of 13D Research.
