Members of the media are invited to cover and photograph the return of Miss UVI Elisa Thomas, who won the National Black College Alumni (NBCA) Hall of Fame crown on Saturday in Atlanta. University of the Virgin Islands students, faculty and staff will welcome Thomas back to the territory at 2:15 p.m. today – Monday, Sept. 29 – at the Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas.
Thomas is the first University of the Virgin Islands queen to return with the Miss NBCA Hall of Fame title. She competed in the preliminary events at the college queens competition last week beginning on Sept. 24. Thomas won the “Hats and Heels Segment” of the competition on Thursday. The main event of the competition was held on Saturday at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Atlanta.
The NBCA queens competition is sponsored by the NBCA Hall of Fame organization, which is dedicated to the growth and development of Historically Black Colleges and University’s through scholarships, internships, training and technical assistance, alumni recognition, and programs to encourage humanitarian involvement.
