The University of the Virgin Islands will host a workshop on basic web programming and the Scratch program for grade and high school teachers from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, on the St. Thomas Campus. Elaine Blomeyer, the 2013-2014 Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow at Triangle Coalition for STEM Education in Washington D.C., will be the instructor. The eight-hour workshop will cover the fundamentals of web development, designing web pages for educational purposes, the use of more technology in the classroom and how to write computer programs using Scratch. Participants who complete the workshop and implement Exploring Computer Science concepts in their classroom will receive up to $200.00 stipend. Space is limited.
