The USA Alumni men's and women’s volleyball squads prevailed in last weekend's 12th Annual UVI Labor Day Invitational Tournament, taking the championship in their respective divisions. Both USA Alumni squads swept all three matches against their counterparts from California. In the men's division, California opened the semifinals defeating the UVI Buccaneers, 3-0. The USA Alumni team defeated a St. Thomas team, 3-1. In the women's division, USA Alumni downed UVI's Lady Bucs, 3-0, in their semifinals match, and California defeated the St. Thomas squad, 3-0.
The tournament's Most Outstanding Players were Andrew Richards of USA Alumni-men and Jordan Dinardo of California-women. UVI's Rakeem Malone took the top blocker award in the men's division. For more information contact UVI Interim Athletic Director Curtis Gilpin at (340) 693-1104.
