Participants Sought for UVI’s 2013 Crucian Christmas Carnival Floupe

Interested UVI students, alumni, faculty and staff are invited to join the University’s participation in the 2013-2014 Annual Crucian Christmas Carnival. This year’s carnival floupe – float and troupe combination – is being organized by the Carnival Committee on the Albert A. Sheen Campus under the theme, “Life’s A Tropical Beach with Fun, Sand and Sea for All to See for Carnival 2013-2014.”

The parade will be held on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014. The float will feature a tropical garden – with flowers native to the Virgin Islands – and beach scene. Music will be provided by UVI’s Albert A. Sheen Campus Steel Band Orchestra. Participants will be in four categories: Hibiscus, Sea Urchins, Sea Shells and Bougainvillea. Costume section three – Sea Shells – will highlight UVI’s alumni and honor their historic achievement of a 50 percent alumni giving rate.

For more information and details on cost, or to register to participate, please contact Hedda Finch-Simpson at (340) 692-4228/340643-1996 or Necola Charles at (340) 244-3433.
