Who am I:
I am a native Virginian who loves facilitating students’ academic attainment via the admissions process. It is incredibly exciting to me to see the transformation that occurs when a prospective student enrolls at the University and eventually graduates from it very well equipped to succeed! I have over 20 years of experience working in higher education and assisting students in reaching educational, professional, and personal goals.
Why UVI:
As someone who has always appreciated cultural diversity, new experiences, and beautiful settings, I (along with my wife . . . the other Dr. Allen) identified UVI as an institution at which I would like to work in the early 2000s. I was attracted to the mission and vision of the University in addition to the fact that UVI is the only historically Black college/university (HBCU) outside of the Continental US.
Why Admissions:
Admissions has been an integral part of my life since 1983, my first year of college! I became an Admissions Tour Guide in the second-semester of my freshman year and that started the chain of events that have led me to full-time, professional work in Admissions for over 15 years. As Director of Admissions/Recruitment, I want every admissible prospective student to attend – and graduate from – this Undeniably Viable Institution!
