Dr. Timothy L. (“Tim”) Faley is an author, scientist, entrepreneur, researcher and educator. His latest book, “The Entrepreneurial Arch: A Strategic Framework for Discovering, Developing, and Renewing Firm,” was published by Cambridge University Press in December 2014. Dr. Faley’s engineering and business career has bridged both industry and academia. He currently holds the Kiril Sokoloff endowed chair for entrepreneurship and is also the special assistant to the President for entrepreneurial initiatives at the University of the Virgin Islands. Dr. Faley is responsible for building the innovation and entrepreneurship program within the university in addition to helping facilitate entrepreneurial activity and economic prosperity throughout the territory. Dr. Faley is also currently serving an executive member of the American Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) Commission on Commercialization, Innovation, Competitiveness and Economic Prosperity (CICEP).

Prior to joining UVI, Dr. Faley was the managing director of the Samuel Zell & Robert H. Lurie Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies and adjunct professor of entrepreneurship in the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. Dr. Faley was the architect and builder of the entrepreneurship program at the University of Michigan for over a decade, which he helped transform from an unranked program to the number one graduate entrepreneurship program in the nation (Princeton Review/Entrepreneur Magazine, 2013). Prior to Michigan he worked in industry in research, new business development, technology licensing, and corporate venture capital. Dr. Faley had also previously been a chemical engineering professor at North Carolina A&T State University. He has been associated with over twenty new ventures throughout his career. Dr. Faley has earned B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering in addition to his MBA.
