Welcome to the University of the Virgin Islands School of Agriculture. The School of Agriculture was created on June 22, 2020 by the Board of Trustees of the institution. Just like any other School of Agriculture in land-grant colleges and universities in the United States, our tripartite mission is centered around research, extension, and teaching. Our research mission is accomplished through the work of research faculty and staff in the Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) and we fulfill our extension mission through the efforts of extension faculty and staff in the Cooperative Extension Service (CES). We attain our teaching mission through the dedication of the teaching faculty members in the academic unit of the school. We envision the School of Agriculture to be a friendly and family-orientated organization for students, faculty, and staff. Armed with the core values of the institution, we hope that our students will go on to enrich lives by making positive contributions to their communities and their professions because of the knowledge and experiences they acquired in the School of Agriculture.
I invite you to read through the information on this website about our research, extension, and academic programs. The research and extension programs information are targeted toward researchers, farmers, families, and youth. The academic programs are designed to prepare students for agriculture and agriculture-related careers/professions locally, nationally, and globally. I think the diverse array of academic programs in the School of Agriculture means that there is something for everyone, regardless of your career needs and professional aspirations. Much more, we have built an extensive network of off-campus partners and collaborators to complement the on-campus educational experiences offered to our students.
I encourage you to take some time to read the faculty profiles in the School of Agriculture. You will be taken aback by the depth and breadth of expertise, preparation, and experiences of the people who will be preparing you for a successful and rewarding career in agriculture. They are highly qualified with broad and extensive experiences in their fields of expertise and specialization. They are engaged in research, teaching, service, scholarship, and other creative activities in agricultural sciences such as biotechnology, cannabis science, agroecology, regulatory science, agrotourism, aquaculture, agribusiness, animal science, and horticulture.
Finally, we have qualified and experienced staff, all of whom are prepared and ready to help our students with a variety of professional services during their stay in the School of Agriculture.
Again, thank you for taking the time to visit our website. If you have any question or comment about our programs and services, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best wishes,
